Anderson House Inn - Inn
History
Anderson House has a history as rich and old as the town
where it resides. The original building, which is now
the innkeeper's quarters, was constructed as a theater
in the mid 1880's by Max Frauenthal. Mr Frauenthal was
primarily responsible for the platting and incorporation
of the town then named Sugarloaf Springs, later named
Heber Springs, Arkansas. By
1912, the building was being used as a school house,
then a doctor's clinic, and finally as the Cleveland
Hotel in 1915. In the 1920's the front two-story section
was added and it became known as the Hipp Hotel until
the early 1940's. A final wing was added in the early
1950's. It has been in continuous operation since that
time. An extensive renovation being completed in 1991 by
Larry and Sandy Anderson, still residents of Heber
Springs. Your
hosts, Terry, Amabilia, and Ingrid Bryant, are proud to
be a part of the property's history and are dedicated to
making it the best period yet of the Inn's long and
useful life.
